R&B star Bobby Brown has experienced a string of tragedies in his life which have all played out in the public eye.
First, he lost ex-wife and music legend Whitney Houston in 2012, and three years later, their daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown was found dead under similar circumstances. And in November 2020, he lost another child: Bobby Brown Jr.
Brown admittedly has had to contend with mounting grief during the past few years, but the parallels found between Houston and Bobbi Kristina’s deaths have not sat right with him.
In a new episode of Red Table Talk, Brown spoke about Nick Gordon’s (Bobbi Kristina’s late boyfriend) involvement with his daughter and shared that he never had the opportunity to confront him.
Bobby Brown talked family, addiction on ‘Red Table Talk’
Jada Pinkett Smith and her family welcomed Bobby Brown and his wife Alicia Etheredge to Red Table Talk for the latest episode. They talked about loss, family, and his own experiences with addiction.
Brown opened up about the shock of losing his son, and explained Bobby Jr. was not a drug user, but he experimented which led to a fatal outcome.
He also discussed his relationship with Houston and how drugs played a role in its demise. Brown expressed how much he missed her as a friend and praised her talent. He also said they both tried to get clean but it ultimately led to division.
When speaking on Bobbi Kristina, he shared that he’s learned to put away his angry feelings toward the situation. But Brown mentioned that she was in a violent relationship with Nick Gordon, and that factor also contributed to her death. He always had questions he wanted to ask Gordon.

Brown didn’t have a chance to confront Gordon about Bobbi Kristina or Whitney Houston
While reflecting on Bobbi Kristina and Houston’s deaths, Brown said he believed Nick Gordon supplied “party drugs” to both women. He flat out stated he thinks Gordon killed Houston and emphasized it is the opinion he has of him.
“He was the only one there with both situations — my ex-wife and with my daughter. And they both died the same way,” said Brown. When Pinkett Smith asked him if he ever had the chance to speak to Gordon before he died in 2020, Brown said no.
“No, I didn’t. In fact, before his death, I was in rehab at the time he passed. I planned on — once I left rehab — to approach the young man just to find out how my daughter was in her last days. But no, I never got a chance to find out from him or talk to him,” Brown shared.
Brown learned about abuse after Bobbi Kristina’s death
Domestic violence was also part of the Red Table Talk conversation, and Brown told Pinkett Smith, Willow, and Gammy that he was unaware his daughter was in an abusive relationship. He said he didn’t find out until after she died.
“That was the hard part. I don’t know why I didn’t see it,” Brown said. “But we hadn’t been spending as much time together after her mother’s death as we should have.”
He added that a few months before Bobbi Kristina’s death, they grew closer, and she had plans to visit him. She was scheduled to fly in two days before she died.
As part of his healing journey, Brown and his family created the Bobbi Kristina Serenity House for victims of domestic violence. The organization provides intervention services, shelter, and crisis assistance.
