The Carpenters May Not Have Sung ‘Superstar’ If Not for Bette Midler

The Carpenters and Bette Midler made very different tunes on the other hand, the Carpenters possibly wouldn’t have recorded “Superstar” if not for Midler. Notably, Richard Carpenter was hesitant to launch “Superstar” as a one for a pretty unique explanation. Apparently, Carpenter explained his angle toward “Superstar” differed from that of lots of Carpenters enthusiasts.

How Bette Midler inspired the Carpenters

On his internet site, Carpenter reviewed why his band made the decision to include “Superstar.” “Karen and I came residence from the studio somewhat early one night in early ’71,” he wrote. “She went to bed, but I tuned in The Tonight Exhibit. The host, Johnny Carson, was championing a then relatively unknown performer named Bette Midler.
